The road to the 2027 Egypt Under-23 Africa Cup of Nations has been unveiled with Zambia set to play the winner between Sierra Leone and Burkina Faso in November.
Zambia are exempted from the first round of qualifiers but will join at the second-round stage.
According to draws conducted in Cairo, the Olympic team stand a chance to face the winner of the match involving Nigeria and any of Mauritania and Congo DR in the final round.
Zambia will join the fray on in the second round on 9 November before trekking away eight days later. Third round matches will be set for 22 March for first legs with the final legs held eight days later.
The Under-23 AFCON is the gateway to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games. Zambia last participated in the Olympic Games men’s football in 1988 in Seoul.
The last participation for Zambia at the U23 AFCON was in 2019 in Egypt.
