The Confederation of African Football, CAF, has concluded an eight-day inspection mission to Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
The inspection focused on the readiness of stadiums, training grounds, hotels, airports, transport systems and other facilities required to host Africa’s biggest football tournament.
The CAF delegation comprised senior officials from its Competitions, Safety and Security, Transport, Marketing, Media, Television and Logistics departments.
They worked alongside representatives of the three host governments and the respective Local Organising Committees.
In Kenya, the delegation inspected the newly constructed 60,000-capacity Talanta Stadium, as well as training facilities, team and match officials’ hotels, airport infrastructure and other sites supporting Nairobi’s tournament preparations.
The inspection team later moved to Uganda and Tanzania, assessing the readiness of key venues and supporting infrastructure.
Among the facilities visited were Mandela National Stadium in Kampala and Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
The inspection is part of CAF’s preparations to ensure that the three East African nations meet the required standards ahead of the tournament.
The 2027 AFCON will mark the return of the continental championship to East Africa for the first time in more than five decades.
Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda will jointly host the tournament from June 19 to July 17, 2027.
