Adil Bourabaa has received his first call-up to Algeria’s senior squad after an impressive start to the season with Le Mans. The 21-year-old midfielder initially missed Brahim Hemdani’s first squad list but joined the Algeria U23s, where he wears the captain’s armband. His strong performances have now earned him a place with the senior Fennecs.
Bourabaa has made a major impact for Le Mans since the start of the campaign. He has scored three goals and provided two assists in five Ligue 1 matches, making him one of the most decisive players in the competition. Nabil Bentaleb’s late withdrawal opened the door for the Drancy-born playmaker, and Hemdani decided to hand him his first senior opportunity.
Bourabaa will now join the Fennecs with the chance to establish himself at international level. Algeria will face Zambia this Friday and Burundi next Tuesday in the AFCON qualifiers. The North African side will then meet Niger in a friendly on October 6, giving Bourabaa another opportunity to impress the coaching staff.
