Super Eagles players Alex Iwobi, Ola Aina, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Calvin Bassey, Semi Ajayi and Arthur Okonkwo were the early birds as players arrived in Nigeria ahead of the team’s opening 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Madagascar.
The players took time to unwind over dinner after arriving in the country as preparations intensify for Friday’s crucial encounter in Uyo.
Nigeria will face the Barea of Madagascar on Friday, September 25, at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, as the three-time African champions begin their campaign for a place at the 2027 AFCON tournament.
The arrival of more players is expected to strengthen head coach Eric Chelle’s squad as the Super Eagles step up preparations at their base in Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State.
The Super Eagles are scheduled to hold their first training session in Ikot Ekpene on Tuesday, with the first 15 minutes open to members of the media.
The players will also interact with journalists during an exclusive media session on Wednesday ahead of Friday’s match.
Meanwhile, Madagascar have already arrived in Uyo for the highly anticipated encounter.
The Barea delegation, comprising 28 players and officials, landed at Victor Attah International Airport on Sunday afternoon.
Nigeria have won their last three matches against Madagascar and will be looking to maintain that record when both sides meet in Uyo.
After the Madagascar fixture, the Super Eagles will travel to face Guinea-Bissau on Tuesday, September 29, in their second AFCON 2027 qualifying match.
With key players now arriving and preparations gathering momentum, attention is firmly on the Super Eagles’ opening assignment against Madagascar.
