Ghana head coach Carlos Queiroz has defended his team following a controversial penalty decision, insisting that he has a responsibility to speak out when he believes an officiating mistake has affected the Black Stars.
Queiroz was critical of the decision and made it clear that he would continue to defend Ghana and his players against any opposition.
“I have a duty to defend this team. I have the right to say when there is a mistake,” Queiroz said.
The Portuguese coach also expressed concern that his comments could attract disciplinary action from the Confederation of African Football (CAF), but maintained that defending his team was part of his responsibility as head coach.
“I hope CAF doesn’t punish me for expressing my feelings and defending Ghana. I have to defend Ghana and my players against any team we face.”
Queiroz’s comments underline his determination to protect the interests of the Black Stars as they continue their campaign, while also highlighting his frustration with the penalty decision.
