Carlos Queiroz has said the decision on whether he should remain as head coach of the Black Stars rests with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) board.
The Portuguese coach was responding to questions about whether he should resign following concerns surrounding Ghana’s football fortunes.
Queiroz said he would be willing to step aside if his resignation would genuinely help transform Ghanaian football.
“If you believe that if the coach resigns you can change the situation of football in Ghana, I’ll be the first one to resign,” Queiroz said.
However, he stressed that his future should not be determined by public pressure, insisting that the responsibility lies with the federation’s leadership.
“That is a decision that should be [for] the board of the federation, that will analyse and decide the future of your coach,” he added.
Queiroz returned to the Black Stars with a mandate focused not only on immediate results but also on building a stronger foundation for Ghanaian football.
His comments come amid scrutiny of the national team after a terrible performance culminating into a bad results for the black stars as they seek to embark on qualification to the next AFCON.
