Ghana’s Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi Adams is set to meet Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku in a crunch meeting amid growing concerns over the Black Stars’ difficult start to the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign.
According to information available, the meeting is scheduled for Friday and will focus on the current situation surrounding the senior national team following their back-to-back defeats in the opening two AFCON 2027 qualifiers.
The Black Stars suffered a 2-0 defeat to Côte d’Ivoire in Bouaké before losing 4-2 to The Gambia at the Accra Sports Stadium, leaving Ghana without a point from their opening two Group C matches.
The meeting between Adams and Okraku comes at a time when scrutiny of Ghana’s football administration and the Black Stars’ recent performances has intensified.
It is not the first time the Sports Ministry and GFA leadership have engaged directly on matters concerning the national team. In March 2025, Okraku led the GFA’s technical team to meet Adams, with discussions focusing on government support and preparations for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
The latest meeting is therefore expected to provide an opportunity for both sides to discuss the Black Stars’ current challenges and the way forward as Ghana seeks to revive its AFCON 2027 qualifying campaign.
