Former Black Princesses coach Didi Dramani has revealed that members of Ghana’s U-20 women’s national team are still owed three of their four qualifying bonuses from the team’s campaign to the 2016 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
Dramani, who guided the team to the tournament in Papua New Guinea, expressed concern over the prolonged delay, disclosing that the players continue to contact him in the hope that he can help secure the outstanding payments.
“They still call me about their unpaid bonuses because they feel I should be someone who can push for it. Why is it like that? It is not supposed to be so,” he said.
The revelation has renewed concerns about the welfare of Ghanaian women footballers and the fulfilment of financial commitments to national team players. Nearly a decade after the 2016 campaign, the outstanding bonuses remain unresolved, according to Dramani’s account, leaving the former coach questioning why the players are still waiting for payments they are entitled to receive.
