Black Starlets head coach Kassim Ocansey Mingle says Ghana have achieved their first objective at the ongoing competition, but insists the team still have two major targets to accomplish.
The Ghana U-17 coach identified reaching the semi-finals, qualifying for the Africa U-17 Cup of Nations (AFCON) and winning the ultimate trophy as the three objectives set for the team.
With the semi-final target now secured, Ocansey Mingle says the Black Starlets must shift their focus towards securing qualification for the continental tournament and ultimately lifting the trophy.
“We have three targets: reach the semi-final, qualify for AFCON, and win the ultimate. We have accomplished one, so we are left with two,” he said.
The coach’s remarks underline Ghana’s determination to make a strong impression in the competition, with the team seeking to translate their progress into qualification for the continental showpiece and a title-winning campaign.
Reaching the semi-finals represents an important milestone for the young Ghanaian side, but the technical team will be keen to ensure the players maintain their focus as the competition enters its decisive stages.
The Black Starlets must now deliver in their remaining matches to achieve their two outstanding objectives and strengthen Ghana’s position in youth football on the continent.
