PSG Confirm Rasheedat Ajibade to Undergo Surgery After Fibula Fracture

Paris Saint-Germain Féminine have confirmed that Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade will undergo surgery after sustaining a fibula fracture while representing Nigeria in the 2028 Olympic Games qualifiers.

The 26-year-old forward suffered the injury during Nigeria’s second-leg encounter against Comoros at the Remo Stars Sports Complex in Ikenne, Ogun State.

Ajibade was forced off in the 23rd minute of the match and was replaced by Folashade Ijamilusi.

Despite losing their captain to injury, the Super Falcons delivered an impressive performance, securing a commanding 5-0 victory over Comoros.

PSG Confirm Rasheedat Ajibade’s Injury

In a statement published on the club’s official website, Paris Saint-Germain confirmed that medical examinations revealed a fracture of the fibula, the smaller of the two bones in the lower leg.

The French club disclosed that Ajibade would undergo surgery performed by one of its leading surgeons before beginning her rehabilitation under the supervision of the PSG medical team.

“Rasheedat Ajibade, who was injured during Nigeria’s most recent national team match against Comoros, has suffered a fibula fracture,” the club stated.

“Our forward will undergo surgery soon, performed by one of the Club’s leading surgeons, before beginning her rehabilitation with the Paris Saint-Germain medical team.”

The club is expected to provide further updates on the Nigerian international’s recovery and potential return to competitive action as her rehabilitation progresses.

Injury Blow for Super Falcons

Ajibade’s injury represents a setback for Nigeria’s Super Falcons, with the influential forward serving as captain and an important figure in the national team’s attacking setup.

Her absence could affect Nigeria’s preparations for upcoming international fixtures, depending on the duration of her recovery.

The former Atlético Madrid player joined Paris Saint-Germain Féminine after establishing herself as one of Nigeria’s prominent attacking talents, bringing experience and leadership to the French side.

Although the full recovery timeline has not been announced, Ajibade will now focus on surgery and rehabilitation as she works towards returning to action.

What Next for Rasheedat Ajibade?

Following surgery, Ajibade is expected to begin a supervised rehabilitation programme with PSG’s medical staff.

Her return to football will depend on her recovery progress and the medical team’s assessment of her fitness.

For Nigeria, the priority will be supporting their captain through her recovery while preparing for their next international assignments.

The Super Falcons will hope their skipper makes a successful recovery and returns to action as soon as medically possible.
