André Onana escaped serious injury after a road accident in Turkey following Trabzonspor’s 2-0 victory over Hearts in the Europa Conference League on Thursday evening.
The Cameroonian goalkeeper was travelling home with his family when another vehicle reportedly hit his car from behind at high speed near Yomra, close to Trabzon.
Emergency services took the 30-year-old goalkeeper to hospital for medical checks before doctors discharged him shortly afterwards. Trabzonspor president Ertugrul Dogan confirmed that Onana had no health issues and wished him a speedy recovery. The incident caused concern, but the available information indicates that the goalkeeper escaped without serious injury.
Onana, who joined Trabzonspor on a season-long loan from Manchester United, has impressed Turkish fans with his recent performances. The former Inter Milan goalkeeper has kept four clean sheets in his last five matches. He remains under contract with Manchester United until 2028, while he continues his spell in Turkey.
