Former Ghana international Samuel Inkoom has criticised the Black Stars’ lack of team cohesion, arguing that individual brilliance alone cannot deliver the results expected of the national team.
Inkoom believes the current squad must improve its collective performances, stressing that team spirit remains a major concern despite the presence of talented players capable of making a difference individually.
“The team spirit is not there. You can see individual brilliance, but playing as a team remains the main problem,” Inkoom said.
The former right-back also dismissed injuries as a sufficient explanation for the team’s struggles, insisting that Ghana have a broad pool of players competing regularly at club level who can step in when key members of the squad are unavailable.
“Injuries should not be an excuse. We have many players competing week in, week out,” he added.
His comments place renewed emphasis on squad depth, tactical organisation and the responsibility of players to deliver consistent performances whenever they are selected to represent the country.
Inkoom further urged members of the current Black Stars squad to approach national duty with commitment and a strong sense of patriotism, reminding them of the significance of wearing Ghana’s colours.
“I urge the current squad to serve the country wholeheartedly and earn the blessings that come with it,” he stated.
The former international’s remarks reflect concerns about the need for greater unity and collective responsibility within the Black Stars as Ghana continue their pursuit of improved performances on the international stage.
For Inkoom, the solution goes beyond individual talent. He believes the players must demonstrate a stronger collective spirit, put the interests of the nation first and work together to meet the expectations of Ghanaian football supporters.
