African Footballer of the Year: Pape Gueye sets his sights on the top prize

Villarreal midfielder Pape Gueye has set his sights on winning the African Footballer of the Year award. The Senegal international hopes to turn his strong performances for club and country into one of the biggest individual honours in African football.

“The African Footballer of the Year award has been one of my goals. It is an honour that rewards a season of hard work, and I do everything I can to improve every single day, aiming to reach that level of excellence with both my club and my national team,” Gueye said.

The Senegalese midfielder continues to build his reputation through his performances in European football and for the Lions of Teranga. Gueye now aims to maintain his progress with Villarreal and Senegal as he pursues his ambition of winning the continent’s most prestigious individual award.
