CAFWCL: Ampem Darkoa Ladies Thrash USFAS Bamako 5-1 in CAF Women’s Champions League Opener

Ghanaian champions Ampem Darkoa Ladies made an emphatic start to their 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League campaign with a commanding 5-1 victory over Mali’s USFAS Bamako in their Group B opener.

Ampem Darkoa showcased their attacking quality to recover from an early setback, with Angelina Yeboah scoring twice, while Patricia Agyei, Belina Nyarko and Nancy Amoh also got on the scoresheet.

USFAS Bamako took an early lead in the 10th minute through Oumou Koné, putting the Ghanaian side under pressure in the opening stages of the encounter.

However, Ampem Darkoa responded strongly and restored parity in the 27th minute when Yeboah finished off a pass from Amoh to bring her side back into the contest.

The Ghanaian champions completed the turnaround just three minutes later, with Patricia Agyei finding the net in the 30th minute to give Ampem Darkoa a 2-1 advantage heading into the break.

Ampem continued to press after the restart, and Amoh appeared to have extended their lead in the 55th minute. Her effort, however, was ruled out for offside as USFAS struggled to contain the Ghanaian side’s attacking threat.

Yeboah eventually secured her brace in the 78th minute, giving Ampem Darkoa a comfortable two-goal cushion before Belina Nyarko struck four minutes later to make it 4-1.

Amoh capped an impressive individual performance by scoring in the fourth minute of stoppage time, completing the 5-1 victory and underlining Ampem Darkoa’s dominance.

The convincing result gives the Ghanaian champions a strong foundation in Group B as they begin their quest for a place in the semi-finals of the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League.
