Tariq Lamptey and ACF Fiorentina have mutually agreed to terminate the defender’s contract following a frustrating and injury-plagued spell in Italy.
The Ghana international endured a difficult period at the club, making just two appearances and playing only 26 minutes before suffering a devastating ruptured ACL injury that brought his season to an abrupt halt.
Lamptey’s arrival at Fiorentina had initially generated excitement among supporters, with many hoping his pace, attacking instincts, and versatility would strengthen the club’s defensive options. However, recurring fitness problems prevented the former Brighton full-back from establishing himself in the squad.
The ACL injury ultimately proved to be the decisive setback, leaving both player and club to agree on an early separation as Lamptey focuses on rehabilitation and rebuilding his career.
Despite the disappointing chapter in Florence, the 25-year-old remains highly regarded for his talent and experience at both club and international level with the Ghana national football team.
Lamptey will now begin the search for a fresh start elsewhere once he completes his recovery, with fans and well-wishers across Ghana and beyond sending messages of support and wishing him a speedy return to football.
