Alex Amankwah added another impressive chapter to his athletics career after securing bronze in the men’s 800m final at Accra 2026.

The Ghanaian middle-distance star, who also holds Ghana’s national record in the event with a time of 1:44.71s, battled strongly against a competitive field to finish on the podium in front of the home crowd.

Gold medal honours went to Kimtai Loti of Kenya, while Imade Bouchejda of Morocco claimed the silver medal after a strong performance in the final.
