The Normalization Committee tasked with steering Congolese football through a transitional period has officially concluded its mandate at the helm of the Congolese Football Association Federation this Wednesday, April 15, bringing an end to a two year intervention period overseen by international football authorities.
Installed in April 2023 by FIFA, the committee, known as CONOR, was mandated to restore stability and normal governance structures within the federation after a period of administrative uncertainty. During its tenure, leadership of the committee rotated between Dieudonné Sambi and Belinda Luntadila, both of whom oversaw key transitional reforms aimed at preparing the institution for a return to electoral legitimacy.
With CONOR now stepping aside, day to day administration of the federation has been handed over to Secretary General Lily Tshimpumpu. She is expected to ensure operational continuity in the coming weeks, maintaining administrative stability while the federation prepares for its next decisive phase.
Attention in Congolese football has now shifted to May 20, the scheduled date for the election of a new executive committee. The vote is expected to formally restore fully elected leadership at the Congolese Football Association Federation, closing a transitional chapter that has lasted two years under the supervision of international football governance structures.
