Mallorca: Eto’o’s 22-year reign comes to an end

A legend falls in La Liga as Samuel Eto’o is no longer the all-time leading scorer in RCD Mallorca’s league history.

Thanks to a brace against Rayo Vallecano on Matchday 31, Vedat Muriqi brought his total to 55 La Liga goals for the club, surpassing the Cameroonian’s record that had stood for more than two decades.

Before becoming an icon at FC Barcelona or shining at Inter Milan, Eto’o had built his reputation in Mallorca.

Arriving on loan in 2000 from Real Madrid, he quickly established himself as a formidable striker, prompting the club to exercise its option to buy.

In four seasons, he racked up 64 goals across all competitions, including 54 in La Liga, leaving a lasting mark on the history of the Bermellones.
