KCCA FC has added to its defensive ranks ahead of the upcoming season with the signing of defender Maxwell Owachgiu.
The defender joins the Cityzens on a two-year contract. He previously had a tenure at Kitara FC, where he captained the club to a Uganda Cup trophy in 2024 and played in the CAF Confederation Cup qualifiers in the 2024/25 season.
He joined Buhimba United Saints FC for the 2025/26 season. The move sees Owachgiu reunite with KCCA FC Head Coach Brian Ssenyondo, who previously managed his development during their time together at Kitara.
Speaking on the official acquisition, Coach Brian expressed confidence in what the defender brings to the setup: Maxwell is a player whose work ethic and discipline I know inside out. He brings so much to this side, including leadership qualities. Signing him on a two-year deal guarantees us a proven winner who understands the pressure of competing at the highest level in Ugandan football.
After putting pen to paper, Owachgiu spoke to the club’s official website and said;
Joining KCCA FC is a huge step in my career, and it is an honor to wear this shirt. I have played against this club many times, and I know the standards of excellence the fans demand. Reuniting with some players I have played with before, as well as Coach Brian, is fantastic. I am here to work hard, defend the badge, and win with my mates.
Maxwell becomes the club’s third signing in this transfer window following the arrival of Charles Lwanga and Elivis Ngonde.
Owachgiu will immediately join the rest of the first-team squad for pre season training as preparations intensify for the upcoming competitive campaign.
