Kenyan Premier League champions Gor Mahia have announced the signing of Daniel Sakari, one of Kenya’s most accomplished and consistent full-backs, ahead of the 2026-27 season.
The Harambee Stars international joins us on a two-year deal with a wealth of experience at both club and international level, adding quality, versatility and leadership to K’Ogalo’s defensive unit as the club prepares to defend its league title and compete on the continental stage.
Sakari’s football journey is one of determination and steady progression. Born in Nairobi and raised in Bungoma County, he attended Milo Central Academy before joining Maseno School, where his talent flourished in both football and rugby.
Exceling in both sports, Sakari decided to pursue football full-time while studying Statistics and Pure Mathematics at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST).
His senior career began at MMUST FC before spells with Green Commandos and Kakamega Homeboyz, where he first experienced Kenyan Premier League football. He later turned out for Kariobangi Sharks and Tusker FC before joining Kenya Police FC for the 2025/26 season.
On the international stage, Sakari has become a familiar face in the Harambee Stars setup since making his senior debut in 2019. He has represented Kenya in AFCON qualifiers, FIFA World Cup qualifiers, the CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup, and other international competitions, earning praise for his composure, tactical discipline and ability to contribute at both ends of the pitch.
Renowned for his versatility, Sakari is equally comfortable playing at right-back, left-back or as a wing-back. His pace, defensive awareness, accurate delivery into the box and ability to support attacks make him one of the most complete full-backs in the region. His professionalism and consistency have earned him the respect of teammates, coaches and supporters alike.
