Scottish champions Celtic have moved to retain the services of Nigerian forward Kelechi Iheanacho by offering him a new two-year contract following the expiration of his previous deal.
The proposed contract is understood to include a weekly salary of £35,000, with performance-related bonuses worth up to £780,000 over the duration of the agreement.
The offer comes after an impressive campaign by the Super Eagles striker, who played a key role in Celtic’s successful 2025/2026 Scottish Premiership title-winning season.

Iheanacho scored seven league goals during the campaign, making important contributions as Celtic secured another domestic championship.
His performances earned praise from the club’s supporters and coaching staff, prompting the Scottish giants to begin negotiations over a fresh contract.
The 29-year-old’s experience and attacking versatility have made him an important member of the squad, with his ability to operate as both a centre-forward and a supporting striker providing Celtic with valuable options in attack.
If Iheanacho accepts the new offer, he will extend his stay at Celtic and continue his pursuit of further domestic success as the club prepares for another Scottish Premiership campaign and European competition.
The contract proposal also reflects Celtic’s confidence in the Nigerian international, whose goals and leadership helped the Hoops maintain their dominance in Scottish football during the 2025/2026 season.
An official announcement on Iheanacho’s future is expected once negotiations between the player and the club are concluded.
