Al Hilal Reject Decision to Strip Sudanese League Title, Plan Legal Challenge

Al Hilal have strongly rejected the Sudan Football Association Appeals Committee’s decision to strip the club of the 2025/26 Sudanese Premier League title, insisting the ruling has no legal basis.

In an initial response to the verdict, Al Hilal maintained that they won the championship fairly on the pitch and disputed the committee’s decision to overturn the league standings.

The club stated that it would immediately begin the process of challenging the ruling once it receives the full written decision from the Appeals Committee.

The latest development follows the committee’s decision to award Al Merriekh a 2-0 victory and three points from the Sudanese derby after ruling that Al Hilal had breached league regulations on the number of foreign players used during the match. The decision altered the final standings and saw Al Merriekh declared champions.

However, Al Hilal remain adamant that the title should stand and are preparing to pursue all available legal avenues in an attempt to overturn the ruling.

The dispute is expected to continue in the coming days as Sudanese football awaits the next stage in what has become one of the country’s most contentious league title controversies in recent years.
