2026 FIFA World Cup : Spain names preferred final opponent

Spain secured their place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup final with a convincing 2-0 victory over France and will now face either England or Argentina in New York on July 19. While La Roja wait to discover their opponent, head coach Luis de la Fuente has already revealed which team he would rather meet in the tournament’s showpiece match.

Speaking after the semi-final, De la Fuente admitted he would welcome a clash with Argentina because of his close relationship with Albiceleste coach Lionel Scaloni. “I am looking forward to facing Argentina because of my friendship with Lionel Scaloni, but I had already warned that England was one of the most serious contenders for the final, and here they are now,” the Spain manager told reporters.

England and Argentina will battle for the remaining place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup final, with the winner earning the chance to stop Spain from lifting the trophy. After eliminating France with an impressive display, La Roja head into the final full of confidence as they look to complete another memorable chapter in their World Cup history.
