OM considers Mohamed Bouhafsi as new president

Olympique de Marseille is preparing for a major leadership change after a difficult 2025-2026 season marked by early exits in the UEFA Champions League and Coupe de France, as well as internal instability.

With Pablo Longoria gone and tensions still present behind the scenes, owner Frank McCourt is actively searching for a new president to lead the club into a new era. He recently stated: “My preference is for someone who knows France and Marseille well… the person must also be a high-caliber, experienced manager.” The objective is clear: appoint a strong leader before the end of the season.

According to recent reports, Mohamed Bouhafsi has emerged as a surprising candidate for the role. Praised for his deep knowledge of football and strong network, he is seen by some as an ideal fit despite his limited executive experience in club management.

Daniel Riolo even backed his profile, saying: “He ticks all the boxes… his address book in football and his networks are very extensive.” Bouhafsi is also reportedly interested in the position, viewing it as a personal ambition. It now remains to be seen whether OM will take the gamble on a bold and unconventional choice to reshape its future.
