FIFA Referee Sulaiman Kamara Receives Historic WAFU B U-20 AFCON Qualifiers Appointment

The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) is pleased to announce that FIFA Centre Referee Sulaiman Santio Kamara has been appointed by WAFU Zone B to officiate at the WAFU B U-20 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers, scheduled to take place in Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire, from 26 July to 9 August 2026.

The tournament will feature seven West African nations—Côte d’Ivoire, Benin, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Niger, Nigeria, and Togo. all competing for qualification to the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.

This appointment marks a historic milestone for Sierra Leone, as Sulaiman Santio Kamara becomes the first Sierra Leonean referee to be selected to officiate at the WAFU B U-20 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers.

His selection is a testament to his professionalism, consistency, and outstanding performances at both the national and international levels. It also reflects the growing recognition and confidence in the quality of Sierra Leonean match officials across the region.

Kamara continues to build an impressive international officiating profile. In 2025, he was selected to officiate at the WAFU A U-17 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers in Mali, where he capped off an excellent tournament by taking charge of the final match—an appointment that underscored the confidence reposed in his abilities by the competition’s organizers.

The Sierra Leone Football Association congratulates Sulaiman Santio Kamara on this remarkable achievement and wishes him every success as he proudly represents Sierra Leone at the tournament in Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire.
