Ibrahim Sangaré has committed his future to Nottingham Forest by signing a new contract that runs until the summer of 2029.
The Ivorian has become a key part of the Forest midfield since his move from PSV in 2023 and in the recent 2025/26 season, he played 43 times in all competitions for the Reds.
14 of those appearances came in the UEFA Europa League and but for a minor injury that ruled him out of the semi-final, the 28-year-old would have played in every game in our historic European campaign.
One of his standout performances in the 2025/26 campaign came against Tottenham Hotspur in December, with two assists and a fine goal helping the Reds to a vital three points in Sangaré’s final match before departing to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations to represent Côte d’Ivoire.
Sangaré has remained an important player for his national team since his debut for the Elephants two days before his 17th birthday, and by reaching the quarter-final of AFCON in January 2026 and featuring in all four games at the FIFA World Cup this summer, he’s now played 58 times for Côte d’Ivoire.
Known for his ability to break up play and progress the ball forwards, Sangaré’s influence in a Forest shirt has grown since his debut against Burnley in September 2023 and the new deal sees his stay on Trentside extended until June 2029.
On agreeing a new deal, Sangaré said: “I’m delighted to sign the new contract. It’s a good moment too for me to thank the fans. Last season wasn’t always easy, but they were always with us and I have always felt their support.
“It’s been three years here and it has become a family for me in that time. I feel good, I have learned a lot, and worked hard to get to this point. I’m really looking forward to working with the new coach and for the season to start.”
