The Executive Committee of the the federation Football Federation (FEMAFOOT) held a meeting on Saturday, August 1, with the leaders of the various Regional Football Leagues.
The meeting, chaired by the President of FEMAFOOT, Mahazou aka Baba Cisset, took place at the Federation’s headquarters, with the federationremier Vice-President Bassala Touré, Mrs. Fanta Niambélé, and Mr. Pascal Dembélé, respectively Vice-President and member of the Relations with Members Committee, as well as the Secretary General, Abba Mahamane.
This meeting, the first of its kind between the elected Executive Committee last April and the Regional Leagues, aimed to discuss the realities specific to each League and present the vision and projects initiated by FEMAFOOT for the development of grassroots football.
In his speech, President Cisset praised the leaders of the Leagues for their commitment and perseverance in promoting regional football, as well as for the results achieved in organizing competitions, particularly the Regional Division 2 championships across the country. He also welcomed the efforts that made the 2026 edition of the Orange L1 promotion tournament, held over two sites in Bamako and Bougouni, a success.
The meeting also provided an opportunity for each League to present an update on its activities, highlight the challenges it has faced, and express its expectations. In response, the President of FEMAFOOT presented the main projects of the Executive Committee aimed at strengthening the development of football in the regions.
Addressing the issue of subsidies granted to the Leagues, the President emphasized the need to establish objective and transparent criteria, based on quality governance, effective organization of competitions, and regular production of technical and financial reports.
Overall, the meeting was very constructive, and it concluded with a shared commitment to organize this framework for exchanges on a quarterly basis to strengthen dialogue, governance, and collaboration within the large Malian football family.
