Yei Joint Stars to open against Denden FC in Women’s Zonal Champions League

South Sudan giants Yei Joint Stars will open their campaign against Denden FC (Eritrea) as the CAF Women’s Champions League CECAFA qualifiers 2026 kicks off on August 21st.

The opening Group A match will take place at the Kigali Pele Stadium as Yei Joint Stars make their sixth appearance in the regional qualifiers. According to the fixtures the second Group A match game between Rayon Sport WFC (Rwanda) and Mafunzo SC from Zanzibar will take place at the same venue.

Action will shift to Group B on August 22 with 2024 winners Commercial Bank of Ethiopia facing FC Ujeco (Djibouti), and later Simba Queens (Tanzania) up against Tops Girls Academy from Burundi in a Group C tie.

The top two teams from Group A, together with the group leaders in Group B and C will qualify for the semi-final stage.

The winner Group B will face the runner-up Group A, while the winner Group A battles winner Group C at the semi-finals. The champion to be decided o August 31st will represent the CECAFA Zone at the CAF Women’s Champions League 2026.

Group A: Rayon Sport WFC, Yei Joint Star FC, Mafunzo SC, Denden FC

Group B: CBE FC, Kawempe Muslim Ladies, FC Ujeco

Group C: Simba Queens, Kenya Police Bullets FC, Top Girls Academy FC
