WAFCON 2026: BJÖRKEGREN WARNS OF CHAWINGA THREAT AHEAD OF QUARTERFINAL

Black Queens head coach Kim Lars Björkegren has acknowledged the significant challenge posed by Malawi, singling out the Chawinga sisters as key threats.

The Swedish tactician admitted his side must remain disciplined and well-organised to neutralize Malawi’s attacking strength.

“They have two players up front who are world class. It’s going to be tough for us,” Björkegren said.
Ghana will need a compact defensive display to keep Malawi’s dangerous forwards quiet in what is shaping up to be a high-stakes encounter.

Björkegren is expected to fine-tune his tactical approach, with emphasis on maintaining shape and limiting space in behind the defense. Quick transitions could also prove key in exploiting Malawi’s defensive gaps.

The Black Queens have shown resilience throughout the competition, and the coach will be banking on that mentality as they aim to secure a place in the semifinals and book a spot for the world cup.
