Young Africans defeat Kariakoo rivals Simba SC to clinch Community Shield trophy

Pacome Zouzoua’s solitary goal over archrivals Simba was enough to win Yanga the 2025 Community Shield, in the Kariakoo Derby match played on Tuesday at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, Dar es Salaam.

The reigning champions goal came in the 53rd minute of the match after Simba’s custodian Moussa Camara spilled the ball following Maxi Nzengeli’s powerful shot. Pacome latched on the rebound to slot the ball into an empty net, drawing wild celebrations from Jangwani fans.

The victory marked Wanajangwani’s back-to-back Community Shield success, a sixth consecutive win against their fierce rivals Wekundu wa Msimbazi, with twelve goals scored, four clean sheets kept, and only two goals conceded, further solidifying their place as Tanzania’s dominant force in recent times.

With the glamourous derby out of the way, the two archrivals have little time to rest as they both have away CAF Champions League fixtures.

Wanajangwani will be making a long trip to Benguela to play newcomers Wiliete of Angola on Friday, 19th. Wekundu wa Msimbazi on the other hand, will be traveling to Botswana to face Gaborone United in Francis Town on 20th.
