Aston Villa have opened talks with West Ham United over a potential move for DR Congo international Aaron Wan-Bissaka, with the right-back valued at around £25 million.
The 28-year-old has emerged as a target for Villa as Unai Emery looks to strengthen his options at right-back ahead of the new season. Villa are understood to be keen to add competition for Matty Cash, with Wan-Bissaka’s Premier League experience making him an attractive option.
Wan-Bissaka joined West Ham from Manchester United in 2024 and has established himself as an experienced top-flight defender. He made 25 appearances for the Hammers last season, although the club’s relegation to the Championship has increased the possibility of several key players leaving.
Villa had previously explored a move for former Tottenham and Brazil right-back Emerson Royal, but that deal failed to materialise, prompting the Midlands club to consider alternative targets.
West Ham are reportedly demanding around £25 million for Wan-Bissaka, although it remains unclear whether Villa are prepared to meet that valuation. Exploratory talks have already taken place, with the defender’s future increasingly uncertain.
The potential move would offer Wan-Bissaka a route back to the Premier League after West Ham’s relegation, while Villa would gain a defender with extensive experience at the highest level of English football.
With the transfer window approaching its closing stages, negotiations between the two clubs could intensify as Villa assess whether to make a formal offer for the DR Congo international.
