Patrice Motsepe spoke out on the sensitive issue of Senegalese fans arrested in Morocco during a CAF-organized competition. “We respect the sovereignty of both Senegal and Morocco. I completely agree when you say that these people were arrested in a stadium, during a competition we organized, so it is also our responsibility (…) These are diplomatic discussions to resolve this issue. It is an important matter for us. But, given its sensitivity, it is not a subject we can discuss publicly.” He specified that this matter is “particularly close to the heart” of CAF.
