AFCON 2027 Qualifier: Egypt Held to Goalless Draw by Angola

Egypt were held to a goalless draw by Angola in their Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2027 qualifying encounter in Cairo, with neither side able to find the breakthrough.

The 0–0 result leaves Egypt frustrated after a match in which the Pharaohs were unable to turn their opportunities and possession into goals.

Playing on home soil, Egypt entered the encounter hoping to secure maximum points and strengthen their position in the AFCON 2027 qualifying campaign.

However, Angola produced a disciplined defensive performance to keep the hosts at bay.
Despite efforts from the Egyptian attack, Angola remained organised and resisted pressure throughout the game.

The visitors also showed enough composure to protect their goal and secure a valuable point away from home.

For Egypt, the result represents two points dropped in their pursuit of qualification, while Angola can take confidence from earning a share of the spoils against one of Africa’s traditional football powers.

The draw means both teams collect a point from the encounter, leaving the AFCON 2027 qualifying race open as the campaign progresses.

Egypt will now look to their next fixture for an opportunity to return to winning ways, while Angola will be encouraged by their resilient display and will aim to build on the result in their next qualifying match.
