AFCON 2027 Qualifiers: Early Qualification in Sight

Several African nations have won their first two qualifiers, taking six points from six and moving to the top of their groups.

The CAF schedule presents a golden opportunity during the upcoming international window. Matchdays 3 and 4 will be played as home-and-away doubleheaders on November 11 and 15.

These two back-to-back matches will mark a true turning point in the qualifiers for the current leaders.

The equation is simple for these top teams: by earning at least 4 of the 6 points up for grabs during this November window (i.e., one win and one draw, or two consecutive wins), they will reach the symbolic 10-point mark.

This total will be mathematically sufficient to definitively secure their place among the qualifiers, even before the final two matchdays.

Among the teams that have achieved this perfect record and are in position to secure their spot as early as November are the following nations, with their upcoming matchups:

Group A

Morocco (6 pts): Morocco vs. Niger (First Leg) / Niger vs. Morocco (Second Leg)

Group C

Ivory Coast (6 pts) & Gambia (6 pts): Ivory Coast vs. Gambia (First Leg) / Gambia vs. Ivory Coast (Return Leg)

Group D

South Africa (6 pts): South Africa vs. Kenya (First Leg) / Kenya vs. South Africa (Return Leg)

Group E

DR Congo (6 pts): DR Congo vs. Sierra Leone (First Leg) / Sierra Leone vs. DR Congo (Second Leg)

Group K

Mali (6 pts) & Rwanda (6 pts): Mali vs. Rwanda (First Leg) / Rwanda vs. Mali (Return leg)

Group L

Guinea-Bissau (6 pts): Madagascar vs. Guinea-Bissau (First leg) / Guinea-Bissau vs. Madagascar (Return leg)
