AFCON 2027: Zambia’s local guns press their case in training

The local assemblage of Chipolopolo boys has been hard at work in the first phase of preparation for the back-to-back Group I 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Zambia will be away to Algeria on 25 September before hosting Togo four days later in Ndola at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.

Interim coach George Lwandamina has been running the rule on 28 local players in the first phase of preparations with foreign based players only expected when the FIFA Window opens on 21 September.

The local camp has been without Power Dynamos, Red Arrows and Zesco United players who were engaged in an off-season international tournament.

Players from the three clubs will be part of the next local camp which is on the cards. Zambia is in Group I alongside Algeria, Togo and Burundi in the race for the 2027 AFCON which will be co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.
