It’s now official. The joint bid to host the 2032 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), led by Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger, is moving forward at a rapid pace.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has formally confirmed the approval of their expression of interest, as announced by the Nigerien Football Federation (FENIFOOT).
This confirmation sends a strong signal to the three Sahelian nations.
By joining forces, these countries aim to demonstrate their collective ability to host the continent’s largest sporting event, while showcasing regional solidarity and cooperation through sports.
Although there is still a long way to go before the final award, this pre-qualification allows the organizers to begin putting together the technical aspects of their bid.
West Africa is thus beginning to dream of a major continental soccer celebration in the heart of the Sahel in 2032.
