Ajibade Questions Super Falcons’ Readiness for WAFCON, World Cup Race

Nigeria international Rasheedat Ajibade has voiced concern over the Super Falcons’ level of preparation ahead of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) and the push for World Cup qualification.

The forward, a central figure in the squad, expressed frustration at what she perceives as insufficient urgency and intensity in the team’s build-up to crucial competitions.

“We are not just preparing for the Women’s African Cup of Nations, we are also fighting for World Cup qualification… so why are we not preparing with the seriousness and intensity this demands… abeg wetin be all this one, for how long?” she said.

The Super Falcons, widely regarded as one of Africa’s most successful women’s sides, are scheduled to kick off their preparations with a double-header friendly against Cape Verde later this month.

Ajibade’s remarks have since triggered conversations around the team’s readiness and overall approach as they gear up for major assignments.

With continental success and a spot on the global stage on the line, focus will now turn to how the coaching crew and football authorities address the concerns raised within the camp.
