Saudi club Al-Fateh announced the appointment of Moroccan coach Jamal Al-Salamy as head of its coaching staff, succeeding Khaled Al-Atwi, in an effort to get the team back on track following the poor results it has experienced since the start of the season.
The new coach will not have much time to settle into the team’s environment, as he prepares for his first test against Al-Ahli on Friday in the eighth round of the Saudi Professional League a match of great importance for Al-Fateh.
The change in coaching staff came after the club decided to terminate its contract with Al-Atwi by mutual consent on Thursday, amid declining results and the team’s failure to make the expected start to the season.
Al-Fateh’s management also expressed its appreciation for the former coach, praising the efforts he made during his tenure with the team.
Meanwhile, the club’s management finalized negotiations with Al-Salamy after completing the necessary procedures and obtaining the required approvals, allowing the Moroccan coach to take up his new position in Saudi Arabia with the goal of restoring balance and improving the team’s performance in the coming rounds.
This move comes at a time when Al-Fateh is facing a difficult situation in the standings, having earned only three points out of a possible 21 under Al-Atwi’s leadership, leaving the team in 15th place making the upcoming phase crucial in its attempt to move away from the relegation zone.
The match against Al-Ahli is expected to mark the official start of Al-Salamy’s tenure with Al-Fateh, serving as an early test that will reveal his ability to bring about change and get the team back on track toward positive results.
