Antoine Semenyo Stars as Manchester City Beat Sunderland 5-3 in Eight-Goal Thriller

Ghana international Antoine Semenyo delivered a decisive attacking performance as Manchester City defeated Sunderland 5-3 in a thrilling Premier League encounter at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

Semenyo scored twice, finding the net in the 43rd and 57th minutes, while also providing the assist for Rayan Cherki’s 29th-minute goal. His three direct goal contributions played a major role in City’s victory.

The 26-year-old was involved in the action throughout an entertaining contest. After Sunderland had twice cancelled out City’s lead through Brian Brobbey, Semenyo restored the advantage just before half-time with a powerful finish.

He struck again 12 minutes after the restart, capitalising on defensive uncertainty to fire City into a 4-2 lead. Sunderland responded through Brobbey, who completed his hat-trick in the 59th minute, but Erling Haaland eventually sealed the three points for the hosts in the 81st minute.

Semenyo’s display ended his Premier League scoring drought for City and represented his most productive league outing of the campaign so far.

The victory keeps Manchester City perfect after five Premier League matches, with five wins from five, as Enzo Maresca’s side enter the international break at the top of the table.

For Semenyo, the performance provides a significant boost as he heads into the international break after playing a central role in one of the season’s most entertaining Premier League matches so far.
