APS Bomet FC has officially secured its place in the top-flight league for next season following a thrilling 2-1 victory against giants AFC Leopards SC at Kericho Green Stadium.
The hard-fought victory extended the club’s spectacular unbeaten run to 10 matches, including seven consecutive league wins. This historic surge capped off one of the most remarkable turnaround stories of the season, lifting the newly promoted side from 17th place in March to 10th in the standings with 43 points.
Head Coach Sammy ‘Pamzo’ Omollo made two key changes to the starting eleven, introducing Hansel and Naibei to inject fresh energy into the squad.
After a goalless first half, team captain and number seven Philip Wasai broke the deadlock in the 61st minute, calmly slotting the ball past the Leopards’ goalkeeper. Just three minutes later, in the 64th minute, Wasai struck again to complete a stunning brace, earning him the undisputed Man of the Match (MOTM) honours.
Goalkeeper Mulili anchored the backline with spectacular point-blank saves in the 58th and 79th minutes to deny the visitors. Despite an 88th-minute own goal that ended Bomet’s historic 851-minute clean-sheet streak, the team held firm through five minutes of stoppage time to seal the three points.
With top-flight safety now fully guaranteed, the Black Berets boys have shifted their focus to finishing the campaign on a historic high. The team has a golden opportunity to climb as high as 6th place in the league standings during the final matchweek. The ultimate test awaits on Sunday, 31 May 2026, when the high-flying Law Enforcers travel to face perennial league title contenders Tusker FC.
The boys will now look to extend their incredible 10-match unbeaten streak and rely on the red-hot form of captain Philip Wasai to conquer the Brewers on their own turf.
