Araklı Mayor Jokes With Mohamed Salah Over Climate Change, Offers Land in Trabzon

The Mayor of Araklı in Trabzon, Turkey, has jokingly offered Egyptian football superstar Mohamed Salah a piece of land in the region, suggesting the Liverpool forward could one day relocate with his family because of the effects of climate change.

Speaking to Salah in a light-hearted exchange, the mayor quipped that global warming could make living conditions in Egypt increasingly difficult in the future.

“Global warming will make living in Egypt more difficult in the future. So we’ll give you a piece of land here, so you can live with your children and grandchildren. Away from the effects of climate change!” the mayor told Salah.

The mayor’s comments quickly added a lighter moment to Salah’s growing connection with the Turkish football scene, while highlighting the region’s eagerness to welcome the celebrated forward.
