Baba Rahman could be set for another appearance on football’s biggest stage after earning a recall to the Ghana national football team for the first time since September 2023.
The PAOK FC left-back has been included in Carlos Queiroz’s 28-man squad for Ghana’s World Cup preparation camp in Cardiff and the upcoming international friendly against Wales on June 2.
Rahman returns to the national team setup after a lengthy absence, having last featured in Ghana’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against the Central African Republic at the Baba Yara Stadium in September 2023.
One of the most experienced players in his position, the 31-year-old has made 52 appearances for Ghana since making his debut in 2014 and has scored two goals for the Black Stars. He was also part of Ghana’s squad at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
His return comes at a crucial stage as Ghana intensify preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted in Canada, Mexico and the United States.
Rahman’s experience and leadership are expected to provide an important boost for the Black Stars as Queiroz works to finalise his squad ahead of the tournament.
