Bendel Insurance Reunite with Former Captain Amas Obasogie on One-Year Deal

Bendel Insurance Football Club have confirmed the return of former captain and Super Eagles goalkeeper, Amas Obasogie, on a one-year deal.

Obasogie rejoins the Benin Arsenal from Tanzanian side Singida Black Stars, where he had been playing following his spell abroad. Reports ahead of the transfer had identified Singida Black Stars as his most recent club.

The experienced goalkeeper previously enjoyed a highly successful spell with Bendel Insurance, establishing himself as one of the most reliable shot-stoppers in the Nigeria Premier Football League and becoming a key leader within the squad.

During his time with the Benin-based club, Obasogie played an important role in Bendel Insurance’s resurgence, helping the team to win the 2023 Federation Cup and recording impressive performances between the sticks.

He also earned recognition for his outstanding goalkeeping displays, which eventually brought him into the Super Eagles setup.

After leaving Bendel Insurance in 2024, Obasogie first joined Ethiopian club Fasil Ketema before later moving to Singida Black Stars in Tanzania.

His return is expected to provide Bendel Insurance with a major boost ahead of the new campaign, with the former captain bringing valuable experience, leadership and familiarity with the club’s culture.

The one-year deal also reunites Obasogie with the club where he became a household name and one of the standout goalkeepers in Nigerian domestic football.

Supporters of the Benin Arsenal will be hoping that the Super Eagles goalkeeper can once again reproduce the form that made him a fan favourite and help Bendel Insurance compete strongly in the new season.
