Benni McCarthy Heading To Pretoria to face Lesotho

Benni McCarthy will return to South Africa as Kenya head coach when Harambee Stars take on Lesotho’s Likuena in two friendlies on 4 and 7 June 2026 at Lucas Moripe Stadium.

The Bafana Bafana legend will face Lesotho coach Bob Mafoso in an interesting COSAFA duel between two Southern African coaches.

Mafoso, who recently guided African Stars to a Namibia Premier League title in his debut season, is keen to make a name for himself at senior international level with Likuena.

For McCarthy, this will be his first match on South African soil since he became the coach of Kenya. Both teams will use the double-header to ready themselves for the 2027 AFCON qualifying campaign.

Harambee Stars, who were earlier scheduled to face Palestine and Kyrgyzstan during the FIFA international window, will now take on Lesotho in a two-legged tie.

The revised fixtures will both be played at the Lucas Moripe Stadium, Pretoria, South Africa. The first game will be played on Thursday, June 4th, at 4pm (EAT), with the final game set for Sunday, June 7th, also at 4 (EAT).
