Brentford are preparing an improved £37 million offer for West Ham United defender El Hadji Malick Diouf as they continue their pursuit of the Senegal international.
The Bees have already seen three bids rejected for the 21 year old left back but remain determined to reach an agreement before the transfer window closes.
Diouf is reportedly keen on a return to the Premier League after West Ham were relegated to the Championship last season. He featured 32 times in the Premier League during his first campaign with the Hammers, contributing five assists and establishing himself as an important attacking outlet from the left.
Brentford see Diouf as a potential long term option at left back, with the club continuing to strengthen their squad under manager Keith Andrews.
West Ham, however, have previously made clear that they are reluctant to sell the Senegalese defender. The club rejected earlier approaches and were initially understood to have no intention of allowing him to leave after generating significant income from other player sales.
The latest £37 million proposal could therefore test West Ham’s resolve, particularly with Diouf reportedly open to the move.
With the transfer deadline approaching, Brentford’s renewed offer is expected to bring the two clubs back to the negotiating table as the future of one of West Ham’s standout performers remains uncertain.
