Captain Ibrahim Traore urges young Burkinabe athletes not to give up on their studies while pursuing their passion for sports.
Addressing the youth, the President of Burkina Faso encouraged them to draw inspiration from the story of Hugues Fabrice Zango, the world champion in the triple jump. Zango’s story illustrates, in particular, that it is possible to balance studies and a sports career.
“You have to keep working hard in school. Don’t give up, because it’s very important. You see, there’s a great athlete, Hugues Fabrice Zango. He’s a world-class athlete. But you know he’s a doctor. He works in the field of electrical engineering,” said Ibrahim Traore.
The head of state then called on young people to continue their education while working toward their athletic goals.
“You, too, should keep working hard. Keep learning everything there is to know about your field of study or profession, but continue to pursue your passion, which is soccer,” he urged.
Ibrahim Traore also assured the young athletes of his support along their journey. “And I, for my part, pledge to support you and help you achieve your goals and fly the flag of Burkina Faso high,” he concluded.
