CAF Rejects Congo’s Entry for 2026/27 Interclub Competitions Over Inactive Domestic League

CAF Rejects Congo’s Entry for 2026/27 Interclub Competitions Over Inactive Domestic League

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has ruled that Congo will not participate in the 2026/27 CAF Interclub competitions after declining the country’s request to register clubs for the new continental season.

CAF said the decision was based on the failure of Congo’s domestic football competitions to meet the eligibility requirements outlined in its competition regulations.

Under CAF rules, clubs from any member association cannot take part in the CAF Champions League or the CAF Confederation Cup if the country’s national league or domestic cup competition has not been organised for more than one year.

The Congolese Football Federation had nominated TAC Léopards de Dolisie to represent the country in the CAF Champions League, while AS Otoho was proposed for the CAF Confederation Cup.

Following its review, CAF concluded that the current status of football competitions in Congo does not satisfy the conditions required for participation, resulting in the rejection of both entries.

As a result, Congo will have no representatives in the 2026/27 CAF Champions League or CAF Confederation Cup unless its domestic football competitions are restored in line with CAF’s eligibility standards.
