TP Mazembe advanced in convincing fashion after defeating Medeama SC 3-1 in the second leg, completing a 4-1 aggregate victory.
The Congolese giants made a flying start at home, taking the lead just three minutes into the game. Patrick Mwaungulu fired a low effort past the Medeama defence to make it 1-0.
TP Mazembe doubled their advantage in the 19th minute when Josué Kazema found the back of the net, putting the hosts firmly in control at 2-0 and extending their aggregate lead to 3-0.
Medeama were handed another setback in the 28th minute when TP Mazembe were awarded a penalty after Bingi went down following contact with goalkeeper Kyei. However, Kyei redeemed himself moments later, diving the right way to save Nyembo’s spot-kick and keep the score at 2-0.
Mazembe continued to control proceedings after the break and eventually added a third in the 76th minute. Mwaungulu completed his brace with a free-kick to put the hosts 3-0 ahead and 4-0 up on aggregate.
Medeama refused to leave without a response and pulled a goal back in the 87th minute through Dominic Amponsah.
The late consolation proved insufficient, however, as TP Mazembe held on to secure a 3-1 victory and progress with a commanding 4-1 aggregate triumph.
