The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has confirmed that it will hear Senegal’s appeal against the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the Moroccan Football Federation over the controversial 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final.
The hearing is scheduled for Thursday, October 8, 2026, at the CAS headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland, beginning at 9:30 a.m. local time and is expected to continue into the afternoon.
The proceedings will be conducted behind closed doors, meaning members of the media will not be permitted inside the hearing room.
Representatives of the Senegal Football Federation and Moroccan Football Federation are expected to attend the hearing in person, while CAF will be represented by its legal counsel.
CAS Panel for the Senegal-Morocco Case
The three-member panel appointed to hear the case comprises:
Professor Gérald Simon (France) – President of the Panel
Professor Luigi Fumagalli (Italy)
Professor Dr. Ulrich Haas (Germany)
The proceedings will be conducted in French.
According to CAS, the panel will begin its deliberations after the hearing. However, no ruling is expected on October 8, and the sports arbitration body has not announced a specific date for its final decision.
The case stems from Senegal’s challenge relating to the AFCON 2025 final involving Morocco, with the Senegalese federation appealing decisions involving CAF and the Moroccan federation.
The outcome of the CAS proceedings could have significant implications for the official record surrounding the AFCON 2025 final.
