CAS Yet to Receive Senegal’s Appeal Over Controversial AFCON 2025 Final Decision

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has confirmed that it has not received any formal appeal from the Senegalese Football Federation regarding the disputed outcome of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final.

Speculation had been rife that Senegal were preparing to challenge the decision by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to strip them of the AFCON title and instead award it to hosts Morocco.

The development sparked widespread debate across the football community, with many questioning the circumstances surrounding the ruling.

However, in an official statement, CAS clarified that no documentation or appeal request has been filed by Senegal as of now, effectively putting to rest reports suggesting that the process had already begun.

Despite the current situation, the window for action remains open.

The Senegalese Football Federation has until April 7 to formally submit an appeal if they intend to contest CAF’s decision.

The controversy surrounding the 2025 AFCON final continues to cast a shadow over African football, with fans and stakeholders keenly awaiting Senegal’s next move.

Should the West African nation proceed with an appeal, the case could escalate into a high-profile legal battle that may ultimately determine the rightful champions of the tournament.
